BNP AM

The sustainable investor for a changing world

Investing for the planet

Pressures on oceans, soils and urban areas continue to increase. Moreover, we expect the global population to grow by two billion people by 20351. The financial sector can play a key role in directing the trillions of dollars needed to solutions for preserving and restoring ecosystems. As an investor, you can also contribute by investing in a selection of responsible funds.

In our view, three investment themes are more relevant than ever in today’s environment:

BNP PARIBAS ECOSYSTEM RESTORATION

When the global consumption footprint is greater than biocapacity, humans exceed the regeneration capacity of Earth’s ecosystems. It is currently estimated that the Earth’s population uses natural resources 1.75 times faster than ecosystems cannot regenerate2.
By investing in BNP Paribas Ecosystem Restoration, you benefit from a comprehensive solution from companies working to restore the different ecosystems: marine, land and urban.

BNP PARIBAS CLIMATE IMPACT

The global energy system is now responsible for 70% of global CO2 emissions. Demographic growth3, linked to urbanization and the rising incomes are contributing to the increase in energy use. To compensate for all these changes, the share of renewable energy needs to rise from 19% to 60% of the energy mix by 2050.
Investing in BNP Paribas Climate Impact means investing in companies at the forefront of the energy transition offering high potential for long term growth.

BNP PARIBAS SMART FOOD

The food industry causes high levels of pollution, mainly due to the intensive use of chemical fertilisers and pesticides. The sector requires large amounts of water for production and energy for transportation.
Investing in BNP Paribas Smart Food means investing in the most innovative and responsibly managed leading companies in the area of sustainable food. They help solve environmental problems and promote quality food.

Natural disasters caused by climate change keep reminding us of the importance of preserving our planet. The COVID-19 pandemic also amplifies the urgency we are in. By protecting our environment and consuming it sustainably, we contribute in building a better future.
